An African American who died on May 25, 2020 in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the United States of America, while being installed on the ground in order to arrest him by the city police, where a Minneapolis police officer, "Derek Chauvin" pressed Floyd's neck (with his knee) to prevent him from moving  During the arrest for nearly nine minutes, meanwhile, two other policemen chained George Floyd while the fourth onlooker was prevented from interfering.

Wminutes Floyd began screaming repeatedly: “I cannot breathe.” Also, some passersby shouted asking the policeman to stop it, but during the last three minutes  Floyd's movement stopped and his pulse stopped, yet the police officers did not show any attempt to rescue him, on the contrary, Chauvin continued to press Floyd's neck with his knee even when medical emergency workers tried to help him.

The incident was recorded in many mobile phone videos widely circulated on social media platforms, and four policemen involved in the incident were fired.

The accident occurred while Floyd was arrested in, a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a passer-by recorded on a smartphone.

Floyd was arrested after his alleged attempt to use a twenty dollar bill at a cigarette and soda grocery store, which the employee described as fraudulent.  Police claimed that Floyd "resisted physically", after he was ordered out of his car before filming the video.

Watched footage from a nearby restaurant does not support the allegation, as it showed Floyd fall twice while accompanying him. A passer-by recorded a video, showed the arrested Floyd repeating repeatedly "I can't breathe", and spread widely on social media platforms, and was broadcast by means of  media..
The four officers involved were expelled the next day.  At the request of the Minneapolis Police Department, the FBI is investigating federal civil rights related to the accident.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Detention is also investigating possible violations of the laws of Minnesota. On May 29, Chauvin was arrested and charged with third degree murder and manslaughter for the death of Floyd, and Mailk Freeman of the county attorney stated that he expected to bring charges against the other three officers  Those involved in the murder of Floyd.

After Floyd was killed, demonstrations and protests began in the Minneapolis-Saint-Paul region on May 26, and they were peaceful in the beginning, and then evolved and escalated later that day to reach riots, as windows in the police department were smashed and two shops were burned, looted and damaged many  From stores.

Some protesters clashed with the police, who fired tear gas and rubber bullets.  The first autopsy did not determine any indication of Floyd's death from suffocation, but the effects of the restriction and the underlying health conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, and the presence of possible intoxicants in the detainee's blood contributed to his death.  Floyd family's lawyers announced that they had requested an autopsy independently.

Floyd's murder was compared to the murder of Eric Garner in 2014, who is also an unarmed African-American African man, who also repeated the phrase "I can't breathe" eleven times after a New York police officer corpsed his knee to his neck while in detention
